Who Is Tommy?

Tommy Zula is the first UCI Pump Track World Champion. Not one of them — the first. He won the inaugural Red Bull UCI Pump Track World Championship final at the Swiss Bike Park in Bern, Switzerland, taking the first rainbow jersey ever awarded in the discipline. That is the jersey and the medal in the photo above.

He is Supercross BMX's pump track and mountain bike specialist, and one of the most distinctive athletes on any factory BMX roster. While most factory teams build their lineup around UCI BMX race classes, Supercross put Tommy on the team because they understand where cycling is going. Pump track is one of the fastest-growing competitive disciplines in the world, and Tommy is at the front of it.

The discipline pulls riders from BMX, MTB and road, and rewards bike handling, explosive power, and the flow and timing that BMX racers develop from the time they're kids. Tommy operates at that intersection — deep BMX roots, elite pump track ability, and the MTB versatility to compete across formats. He has added Crankworx wins at Rotorua and Whistler to the world title.

Having Tommy on the Supercross BMX Factory Team is a forward-thinking decision. It says the brand isn't only building frames for the BMX gate — it's building frames for wherever bike sport is heading. Supercross has 37 years of frame engineering behind it, and that knowledge carries straight into the geometry and handling demands of pump track and MTB competition.

His Discipline

Factory Role
Pump Track + MTB Ambassador
Pump track racers demand the same things from their equipment as BMX racers: precise handling, low weight, and frames that respond instantly to rider input. Supercross's frame engineering — refined over 37 years of elite BMX development — carries straight into the demands of pump track and MTB competition. Tommy rides the Supercross Shine and the Supercross Vision, and works with Supercross SecretLabs on development projects.

Supercross BMX frames are built to UCI and EN safety standards well above minimum requirements, and that standard applies across every discipline the team competes in.
