Māris Štrombergs is the most decorated BMX racer in Olympic history. Two-time Olympic Gold Medalist — Beijing 2008 and London 2012, back-to-back — making him the first and only man to win BMX gold at the Olympics twice. He won the inaugural Olympic BMX race in 2008 when the discipline made its Games debut, and defended the title four years later in London. Latvian. Nicknamed "The Machine."
Štrombergs's career spans every level the sport offers. 2× UCI BMX Elite World Champion. 4× European Champion (Junior + Elite combined). Multiple UCI BMX Supercross World Cup wins. 2× NBL Pro Champion. ABA / USA BMX Pro Champion. He officially retired from competitive racing on November 13, 2018, after a career that put Latvia on the global BMX map and inspired a generation of Latvian racers — including Vineta Petersone and Kristers Apels, both of whom now race for Supercross.
In 2026 Māris is back with the Supercross BMX Factory Team — supporting the next generation, riding exhibition events, and launching his own venture: Machine. A company built around his nickname and his approach to the sport. He's on the Vision F1 in The Machine colorway. The bike, the company, and the name all tied to the same identity that earned him two Olympic golds and the most respected legacy in BMX racing.
