Prototype Bikes from Grands

At the Grands, we had a great time, and great results. We posted up a few photos from the Grands on the site right after and it wasn't until today that we had a bunch of eagle eyed readers hit us up about the forks on Bubba, Kenth, Jeremy and Dani's bikes.

Supercross 20mm SLT Fork with 20mm Quick Twitch Hub

You see, we are never trying to sit back and call things good enough, and we have to say that when we saw VSI come out with the 20mm axles for BMX, we were curious. Odyssey had done it years ago with thier XTRO forks and Hubs, the Mountain Bike Arena has been running 20mm Fronts for a long time now and with the suspension it makes sense.

Would it work for BMX?

Well we did a little bit of testing and came up with the conclusion that yes, the 20mm front is stiffer. And it is also lighter. So we decided to throw a few together for the team for the Grands.

Bubba said that it took a few laps for him to get used to looking down the front end and not seeing any axle bolts, but Jeremy and Dani said that it was and instant thing for them where they felt much more confident in the turns, that the front end was solid and they went where ever the pointed it. Almost like power steering.

After getting the go ahead from the team, we have put these in production in 20" and 24" versions. It starts off with our SLT-i Integrated Race Fork and has our special 20mm Heat Treated Cro-mo Dropouts. The Forks will ship with a custom Supercross Quick Twitch 20mm hubs with our custom frictionless bearings. We are still working on the final pricing, but start looking for these at your Favorite Supercross BMX Dealer in Febuary 2012.
