ABA Redline West Recap
Last weekend we loaded up the trailer and headed out to the infamous Boulder City track in Nevada for the ABA Redline West Finals and UCI Pro Race. Friday Morning early we hooked the trailer on up, threw Jeremy and Nate in the truck and headed on out.
Friday when we got there, Shannon was already waiting with Colby and Jason, and we made quick work of getting the pits set up. Nate even thought that Shannon needed to be set up , so we knew it was going to be a fun weekend.
Pretty quickly after we got the pits set up, Bubba showed up with Kasey and Layla, Dani rolled in with her Mom and sister, and Ash showed up with her mom and brother, so the pits were starting to get full. Everyone got in a good practice and just as we were starting to tear down for the night, Afton showed up and then Alex Anthony showed up and brought the Bulldozer Randy Roberts with. Everything seemed to be going great, until Saturday morning.
We got there early Saturday to get the pits ready and Ashley showed up early for the first practice and before she even made it to the track, she ended up over at the skate park with a broken Tib/Fib in her growth plate.
Luckily Ash is a trooper and kept her cool, even after having to get a full leg cast and being told she is going to be out until January with this. Not what you want to hear after coming off of a Double a few weekends before in Chula.
So after Ash was on her way tot he Hospital, it was practice time, and while Bubba, Dani and Nate were working hard on the front straight, Jeremy decided to have a little bit of fun over the Pro set since he wasn't racing for the weekend, he had the crowd going nuts.
Motos went good on Saturday, Bubba was looking great in his return to ABA BMX racing since his broken collarbone, Dani was looking super fast and was pulling not to mention being the first Elite Woman of the weekend to jump the Pro Set, Nate was looking like the old bull and had the hunger look back in his eyes and Randy, well the Bulldozer just loves to ride!!!
Bubba made Semi's both Days, the first day he and Connor Fields were the 2 who didn't make it, and on Sunday it was Bubba and Maris that didn't make it, so not too bad of company.
In Elite Women, Dani was having some amazing laps and won a moto or two, even pulled ABA #1 Dom down the first straight, but a crash on Sunday gave her a 5th and 8th for the weekend.
In Junior Men, Nate stepped on the box with a Third on Saturday and a 4th on Sunday, Thnk nate was having a bit of fun with his racing with his Wiggle Bars over the pro set and his shout outs to his fans down the rythym.
And what about the Bulldozer you may ask, well he took a 3rd on Saturday and a 2nd on Sunday in 28x. Not too bad for a guy who shows up to race when he feels like it.
Aside from Ash's broken leg it was a great weekend, ton's of posters were signed, and a few catalogs were customized, and Dani is thinking about a new career as a Pro Scooter rider. Here are a few more photos of the weekend.
Next up, ABA Disney Cup where Bubba, Courtney, Dani and Zach are going to have a bit of fun at the Mouse House.
